A mother from St.Cloud, Florida, was having a party for her son’s 6th birthday. She invited everyone from his class but not one showed up.
Meet Glen Burrati, a cheerful 6-year-old with autism. Only, He wasn’t so cheerful when he learned that no one would show up for his party. He even refused to smile.
Heart-broken over her son’s own despair, Ashlee posted a rant on Facebook about how upset Glen was that nobody showed up. It was a simple rant that she thought wouldn’t get any attention, but soon after she started getting messages from complete strangers. Some time later and people began showing up to the party with their kids and presents.
The post has also reached the Osceola County Sheriff’s office who sent over a helicopter to fly over head, which could easily be the best gift for any 6-year-old.
“One of our friends put him[Glen] up on his shoulders and Glen just smiled the whole time and waves. It was amazing.” Ashlee recalls.
He also got a special visit, a week later, from the police and fire department who brought along gifts of their own money which they pooled together.
Ashlee was not expecting so much to happen after her little rant on Facebook, but the events that took place after has rejuvenated her faith in humanity. “The amazingness of everyone coming together for somebody they didn’t even know, a kid that didn’t have anyone come to his birthday party, it just warms my heart.”
As for the parents and kids of Glen’s class, there is still no explanation as to why any of them never showed.
