Darnell Barton is a bus driver in Buffalo, New York. In his few years of driving he has met many people, but one person he will remember forever.
As he was driving over a bridge, he noticed a woman standing on the outer side of the railing. It didn’t seem real to him because of how casually people and traffic were passing by. He decided stop his bus and see how the woman was doing. She seemed distant and disconnected at first, but Barton managed to grab her and pull her off the ledge. What he does next is simply beautiful.
He sits there with the woman and makes her realize that no matter what she’s going through, it’s not worth it to make the leap. After seeing what he did, the passengers on his bus gave him a round of applause. His co-workers call him “Big Country”, a big man with a big heart. He believes his co-workers would’ve done the same.
Darnell Barton has stated that he believes he was meant to find this woman and help her. What’s unquestionable, however, is this New York bus driver, is truly a hero.
