Nothing can get between a man and his car—except for maybe, the love of his life. And that’s exactly what happened when Dave gave up his beloved white 1973 Porsche 914 in exchange for a white wedding.
Although he is now happily married and even became a step-dad, he never forgot about his precious car that ended up as scrap metal and parts. His step-daughter, Kristin Russell, knew how much it meant to him. So she found a way to show her step-dad just how much he means to her.
Kristin hatched a plan that took two years to come to fruition. After searching for what seemed an eternity, she found an exact duplicate of his Porsche. Kristin drove all the way from her house in California to Arizona to pick it up. She was sure to have it fixed up at a mechanic in Pennsylvania before the big reveal.
When she arrived at her parents’ house on Father’s Day, she handed her step-dad a card that ended in a long and heart-felt hug. All of the sudden, Dave heard an engine rev and checked outside. He did a double-take when he saw a part of his past sitting in his drive-way.
But he didn’t realize what was going on.
When Kristin confirmed that the surprise was really for him, he was in shock. The two shared an emotional hug, and Dave’s eyes welled up with tears.
The two of them jumped in his new ride and whisked away on a joy ride which was sure to be the first of many to more to come.
