A touching story about an elderly man fulfilling his dreams went viral earlier this week. The post, which appeared on the Love What Matters Facebook page, depicts a touching scene at a beautiful wedding.
“What’s your goal?” One of the nurses asked him.
“To be her “Something Blue” on her wedding day,” my uncle replied from his hospital bed.
My 92 year old uncle was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and served in combat on Naha in Okinawa. After a bout with pneumonia and an extended stay in rehabilitation, he was able to meet his goal on May 13th, 2017, my wedding day. There wasn’t a dry eye in the church when he was escorted down the aisle in his dress blues. It was such an honor to have him serve as my “Something Blue” on my wedding day and a memory that will last a lifetime.”
Weddings make people cry anyway, but this one was DEFINITELY a tear jerker! God bless this American hero.
