A heartwarming story about a sick father’s dying wish has gone viral after a community came together to make it possible for him to see his daughter perform.
So, the most amazing thing happened tonight! As many of you know, or may not know, my husband has been very ill. After a year long battle and a 2 month stay in hospitals, he came home Saturday on hospice. Our daughter, Mikayla, is in the Morton Color Guard and has always wished her dad could see her perform just one time. And his last wish was the same. So with the help of some amazing people, we made it happen! The Morton High School marching band dressed in full uniform for rehearsal tonight. Our entire families were there sitting all together.
The band families were there. We had amazing photographers there. The band director made a very special heartfelt tribute speech honoring Mikayla and her dad and her family as he entered the stadium on a stretcher. As his health is declining, the only way to get him there safely was by ambulance. The Morton High School Marching Band then put on the most amazing show. Mikayla was then escorted to the stands by her guard instructor, and her 3 best friends, to see her dad. He had balloons and flowers for her and we shared the best family hug and moment ever!! This made my daughter the happiest I have ever seen her. She was gleaming, she was crying and it was all amazing!
