A woman posted a request on a Facebook support group for veterans, after hearing about the circumstances of 47-year-old Lee Hernandez of New Braunfels, Texas.
Lee is an army veteran of 18 years who is suffering from an unknown terminal deteriorative illness. The mysterious illness causes him to have continuous strokes, which affects his cognitive abilities and has taken his vision.
But, even with his health quickly fading, Lee has some unique final wishes.

Good evening folks! I am asking for a favor from all you veterans!
There is an Army veteran, Lee, who currently has hospice in his home. I do not know all the details, BUT what I do know is his wife told me he asked to hold his phone and when she asked why he said, “in case someone calls”.After 2 hours and no calls he told his wife, “I guess no one wants to talk to me”.
Below is his number, if you want to take 5 minutes out of your day tomorrow and call him I know it will brighten his day.
He is blind so his wife can read a text but he cannot. Please let Lee know that the veterans are thinking of him!!
Anyone who wants to call him feel free
210-632-6778 (he is in Texas)
Lee’s wife, Ernestine says that her husband has enjoyed the recent influx in calls, but asks that you please call between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. CDT, as that is when Lee is the most alert despite his pain medication.
“A lot of people call to pray with him. It really uplifts him,” Ernestine said.
She calls Lee a “fighter” and says that “his strong will keeps him going.”
So, if you want to support our troops, you can start by making this sick veteran’s day.
