Old man says how he got rich. This is priceless.

When you’re reading a book or watching a movie, do you ever catch yourself trying to predict the ending?

Maybe you even scream at your TV to warn your hero that the bad guy is coming.

Predictability can be boring. But for one old man, storytelling is a game.

The Healing Site shared this funny story about an old man who tells a dramatic tale.

Picture this.

A young boy asked an old rich man how he made his money. The old guy fingered his worsted wool vest and started explaining.

“Well, son, it was 1932. The depth of the Great Depression. I was down to my last nickel. I invested that nickel in an apple. I spent the entire day polishing the apple and at the end of the day, I sold the apple for ten cents.

The next morning, I invested those ten cents in two apples. I spent the entire day polishing them and sold them at 5 P.M. for 20 cents. I continued this process for the rest of the week, then for the next, then for the whole month that followed, and so on.”

“That must’ve taken years!” the boy exclaimed, flabbergasted by the elderly man’s patience and determination. “That’s how you built your empire?”

“Heavens, no!” the man replied. “Then my wife’s father died and left us two million dollars.”

Old folk sure have a way of telling the best stories.

If you always know what’s coming next, things can feel a bit stale.

But when you find a story that leaves you on the edge of your seat–that’s the one to savor.
