A Cop Was Forced To Shoot A Man In The Line Of Duty. Here’s The Part The Media Won’t Show You.

When officer Grant Morrison shot and killed a 38-year-old last year, there was one thing on his mind: He wanted to live to “see his son grow up.”

When the 38-year-old suspect reached into his waistband while high on methamphetamine, and refused to put his hands in the air, Morrison made a split second decision to shoot in order to protect himself.

His reaction shortly after the incident shows a side of law enforcement that you don’t usually see in the media. The officer breaks down in tears as the emotional toll of taking another man’s life bears down on him.

This week, he testified in front of a jury, explaining his thought process as the events unfolded:

I knew in that moment, which later was determined to be untrue, but I knew in that moment that he was reaching for a gun. I couldn’t take that risk. … I wanted to see my son grow up.

They seven person jury determined that his actions were justified.
