94-year-old woman baptized. Says it’s “never too late to become a Christian”

A 94-year-old woman accepted the Christian faith and was recently converted and baptized. She wants her act to be seen as one of encouragement for people who believe it may be too late for them to accept Jesus Christ.

Christian Pastor Todd Free of Cook Baptist Church in Ruston, Louisiana baptized senior citizen Ophelia White.

White considered herself a Christian for many years but as her roommate Joy Campbell spoke to her about the gospel, she wanted a closer, more intimate relationship with Christ, Christian Headlines reports.

“I want people to know it’s never too late [to be a Christian]. Get with it,” White said to the congregation who witnessed her faith conversion event.

“It’s inspiring to people, particularly for senior adults, to know that God is still touching hearts even in the elderly years,” said Free. “There are many others like Mrs. White who went their whole life thinking they knew Christ but understood later their need for Him.”

“I’m praying we have others in our congregation who have a similar story will have the courage to do as Mrs. White,” Free continued. “We see her testimony as a gift from God to our church and are grateful He allowed us to be a part of this.”

Henry Campbell, the husband of Joy, had followed a similar path to White’s some years before. He had worked as a church deacon but craved a stronger, spiritual connection with Christ. He converted at the age of 64.

Joy Campbell believes her friend White is a living testament to the fact “that it’s never too late to become a Christian and that you should never give up on a person. It takes time, a lot of time.”
