After a tragedy robbed them of a colleague, ten officers of the Greenville Police Department in South Carolina gathered in an awe-inspiring moment.
A newlywed Meghan M. Jacobs was abandoned when her husband lost his life in the line of duty. Her husband, 28-year-old Officer Allen Jacobs, died at the hand of a gang member on March 18th.
If this news wasn’t heart-breaking enough, the husband, father, military veteran and police officer was expecting another child on the way.
To show their respect for the fallen officer, fellow police officers posed in a maternity photoshoot with the officer’s wife and unborn child. The mother was dressed in delicate white and cradled her pregnant belly while ten uniformed officers stood in a half-circle and saluted.
Another photo used props to honor the decorated hero and father.
The photographer, Jessie Ellex, wrote about the experience on Facebook.
“Officer Allen Jacobs was a well decorated Army veteran and devoted police officer to the Greenville community. Meghan M Jacobs is expecting a baby girl in July and I was given the honor to capture these photographs for her.”
Police officers risk their lives every day to protect civilians; their lives are busy and uncertain. But they always find time to take care of their own.
